If you keep your securities in many folders, it can be difficult to
add those securities to explorations and downloads in MetaStock. In
MetaStock 8.0, you must re-add all of your securities in all of your
folders every time you add new securities to your folders. This
is prohibitively time-consuming if you keep your securities in, say, 74
separate industry folders as many of our customers do.This utility will
automatically add all securities in multiple folders. With MetaStock
7.x, you only need to run this once. With MetaStock 8.0, you must run
this as often as you add securities to your database.
IMPORTANT: Do nothing else while running this! This
utility simply sends keystrokes to your computer, so if you start up another
program, the keystrokes will start hitting that program.
In MetaStock 7.X and any version of the DownLoader, your screen should
look like this:
In MetaStock 8.0 (but NOT the DownLoader 8.0), your screen should look
like this:
Run the Add Folders utility and set the number of folders (usually 74 for
the Paritech CD, but sometimes a little different):
First, an important note (again): Do nothing else while running
this! This utility simply sends keystrokes to your computer, so if
you start up another program, the keystrokes will start hitting that
program.
Now press the appropriate button, and watch.
When done, in MetaStock 7.X, you can now save this as a list. Any
changes to the contents of the folders will be included in future
explorations.
In MetaStock 8.0, you could save these securities, but it would only save
the securities, not the folders, so when you add a new security to your
database, your list would be useless. So instead you must run this
after every time your database changes.
Existing customers should save this utility to the folder where they
installed SpyGlass (usually c:\program files\debry). It will overwrite
the previous Add Folders utility, and can be called up from the Tools menu
in SpyGlass.
Anybody else can download this utility too - we're giving it away to
anyone and everyone. Maybe we'll get a few new SpyGlass customers out
